Corporate Strategy
For a combined electric and gas utility with over
1.2 million customers, C Three developed a complete
corporate strategy forward looking for the next
eight years. The previously vertically integrated
company now has four main business units:
generation, transmission, delivery and retail.
Parallel to this process, detailed regulatory
strategy was developed that is supportive of the
overall long-term corporate objectives.
A detailed corporate model was developed
comprised of P&L's and balance sheets for each
business unit that roll up to a consolidated set of
accounts. This has allowed for testing of such
variables as market clearing price, gross margins,
customer loss rates, capital structures, operating
costs, and regulatory outcomes. Other outcomes of
the strategy development have been the
implementation of activity-based accounting and EVA.
Customer Service Strategy
For a large investor-owned utility, performed a
cost based analysis of implementing a system-wide
automated meter reading system. Testimony was
prepared and given to the state regulatory agency
concerning the economic feasibility of this program.
Regulatory Strategy
The C Three Group developed the detailed
regulatory strategy for a large investor owned
electric utility operating in three different
states. Positions on meters, metering, meter
reading, call center, billing, branding, supplier of
last resort, default supplier, codes of conduct and
incentive-based regulation were developed and
aligned with the company's overall corporate
strategy. "Give-aways" were identified, quantified
and placed in order of priority. |
